If you've always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now's the time to find out! Start the journey of a lifetime with the PADI Open Water Diver course. It will change you forever!

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, your PADI Instructor takes you through the basics of learning how to scuba dive.This class is the final step toward earning your Open Water Diver certification. It includes the open water checkout dives.

If you have not completed the Open Water Diver - Confined Water Dives course you need to purchase and complete that part of the course first.

Prerequisites: A Medical Questionnaire must be completed by all participants. Some participants may require their Physician’s approval prior to any in-water activities. All paperwork is completed through your PADI account.

10 years old for Junior Open Water Diver and 15 years old for Open Water Diver. Good health, reasonable fitness and comfort in the water.

Earning the Open Water Diver certification requires completion of the below modules.

Knowledge Development (NOT included in price of this class)

  • Convenient online access to knowledge development course materials on PADi's eLearning platform using your computer or mobile device.
  • Complete eLearning when and where it's convenient for you prior to your pool training.
  • Approximately 10-15 hours.
  • Lifetime access to your eLearning materials.

Confined Water Dives (NOT included in price of this class)

  • Develop basic scuba skills and equipment handling techniques in a pool.
  • Classes scheduled every weekend (barring select holidays).
  • The weekend starts at 7:30am on Saturday at one of our shops.
  • The 2 pool sessions are 12-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  • You provide your own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins (students get a discount if buying all those items from Y-kiki Divers).
  • Y-kiki Divers provides the rest of the required equipment.

Open Water Training Dives (included in price of this class)

Put it all together and apply your diving knowledge and skills while making four open water dives. If you complete your certification with Y-kiki Divers:

  • We typically schedule checkout dives at Mermet Springs every weekend during the diving season (end of April through the end of October).
  • We complete 3 dives on Saturday, starting at 8am - weather permitting. On Sunday we complete the reamining dive(s), again starting at 8am.
  • You provide your own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins.
  • Y-kiki Divers provides the rest of the required equipment.

To continue your adventure, consider the Advanced Open Water class and be sure and sign up to receive information on our Local Diving Adventures Group - more commonly known as the Fun Diving Club. It's an opportunity to join Y-kiki's experienced staff and other local divers diving at a nearby dive site. Diving makes better divers... so let's go diving!

Dry Suit Option: Don't let our colder water stop you from diving! Dive a Dry Suit, stay warm, dive often. Do all your training dives using one of our dry suits and become PADI Dry Suit certified the same weekend you do your Open Water Diver certification dives (additonal cost and pool training). Contact the shop to add this Specialty course certification which counts as one of five Specialty certifications required for Master Scuba Diver certification. Take the Master Scuba Diver Challenge!
